On March 30, 2026, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) opened its new SCADA/EMS system at the DVC Load Dispatch Centre in Kolkata. This was a big step forward for the ULDC Eastern Region Phase-III Project. This development is a big step toward making grid operations more modern and improving the management of the power system.
The system was inaugurated by S. Suresh Kumar, Chairman, DVC, in the presence of senior officials from the corporation and key representatives from the power sector. The commissioning of this advanced platform highlights DVC’s focus on adopting next-generation technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
The new SCADA/EMS system from GE Vernova lets DVC collect and monitor data in real time across its generation and transmission network. It also makes sure that it works well with both regional and national electricity grids, which makes coordination and system visibility better. This feature is expected to greatly improve the reliability of the grid, make operations more efficient, and help people make decisions faster and with more information.
In a notable achievement, DVC’s State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) has become the first in India to implement this system under the ULDC Phase-III scheme. This accomplishment sets a new benchmark in modern load dispatch and grid management practices, positioning DVC as a leader in power sector digitalization.
This system is expected to make real-time monitoring and control stronger, make the whole system work better, and help it work better with India’s growing power infrastructure. It shows how the energy sector is moving toward using technology to make things more stable and strong.
This initiative underscores DVC’s continued commitment to digital transformation and innovation. The company wants to help make India’s energy infrastructure and long-term energy security goals a reality by using advanced grid management systems. This will help create a power ecosystem that is more resilient, efficient, and sustainable.
