Eni and Seri Industrial have signed an agreement to jointly develop an integrated lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supply chain focused on stationary energy storage and electric mobility solutions.
The agreement has been signed between Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB, a company of the Seri Industrial Group. It follows the framework agreement announced on May 16, 2026, with the companies confirming that the transaction closing will be completed within the next few days.
The partnership aims to create a complete industrial platform covering the production of LFP battery cells and modules, assembly of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and solutions for industrial and commercial electric mobility applications. The companies also plan to explore future activities such as battery recycling, material recovery and cathode material production.
As part of the project, FIB will continue developing industrial operations at its Teverola hub in Caserta, Italy, where an LFP battery cell manufacturing facility is already operational. The project also includes expansion at the Teverola-Brindisi hub.
The companies stated that Eni Storage System S.p.A., jointly controlled by Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB, will complete a utility-scale BESS assembly line during the first half of 2027. In addition, the venture plans to establish a second gigafactory for battery cell and module production with annual manufacturing capacity exceeding 8 GWh by 2029.
Under the transaction, Eni Industrial Evolution will acquire a 30% stake in a newly established company created by FIB, while FIB will retain the remaining 70% stake. The new entity will oversee commercial development, procurement and engineering activities related to the project.
The agreement reflects Europe’s growing efforts to strengthen domestic battery manufacturing capabilities and support the expansion of renewable energy storage infrastructure and electric mobility solutions.
