Feston SEV Pvt. Ltd., a solar inverter and power electronics company under FestGroup, has expanded into the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) segment, marking a strategic move towards integrated energy solutions. With this development, the company aims to combine solar generation, storage, and power electronics into a unified offering, aligning with evolving market demands.
Building Large-Scale Storage Manufacturing Capacity
As part of its entry into the BESS market, Feston has said it will build a factory that can make 3 GWh of batteries every year. The company’s products will meet a wide range of needs, from 5 kWh systems for homes to 5 MWh containerised solutions for businesses and industries (C&I).
This wide portfolio positions Feston to address both small-scale and large-scale energy storage needs, supporting customers across different segments.
Rising Demand for Storage-Backed Energy Solutions
The expansion comes at a time when India’s solar market is moving away from growth based on capacity and toward better energy management. Even though there are a lot more solar installations, their intermittent nature and the growing impact of time-of-day tariffs are making people want systems that can store energy.
Across residential as well as C&I segments, consumers are increasingly seeking solutions that can synchronise energy generation with consumption while ensuring reliable and predictable power supply.
Strategic Collaboration for Manufacturing
To strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, Feston has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Light Mechanics Private Limited. The agreement covers the design, supply, and commissioning of a prismatic battery pack assembly line, which is expected to enhance the company’s production and integration capabilities in the BESS segment.
Industry Shift Towards Integrated Energy Systems
The change is part of a bigger shift in the renewable energy industry. Inverters are no longer just for changing energy; they are becoming smart systems that control the flow of energy between solar power, storage units, and the grid. This change is speeding up the need for integrated solutions that bring together generation, storage, and advanced power electronics into one system.
Leadership Perspective and Market Outlook
Commenting on the development, Sampath Kumar, CEO of Fest Group (Feston SEV Pvt. Ltd.), said:
“The requirement today is moving beyond generation to how energy is managed across time. Across both C&I and residential segments, storage is becoming central to improving reliability and aligning energy usage with demand.”
Industry experts anticipate strong growth in India’s energy storage market, supported by policy initiatives, round-the-clock renewable energy tenders, and increasing adoption across industrial and distributed energy segments.
