The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has approved the tariffs discovered by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for procuring 500 MW of wind power capacity through a competitive bidding process. The procurement includes a base capacity of 250 MW along with an additional 250 MW under the greenshoe option.
According to the order, Patel Infrastructure emerged as the largest bidder, securing 200 MW capacity at a tariff of ₹3.43 per kWh. Alfanar Power won 100 MW at the same tariff of ₹3.43/kWh. Meanwhile, KP Energy and Powerica secured 100 MW each at a slightly higher tariff of ₹3.435/kWh.
The Commission has allowed GUVNL to sign long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the successful bidders for the approved capacities and tariffs. The projects will be developed under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework for grid-connected wind power projects.
GUVNL had filed the petition seeking tariff adoption under Section 63 of the Electricity Act after conducting the bidding process for wind power procurement. The initiative is part of Gujarat’s broader renewable energy expansion strategy and is expected to support the state’s renewable purchase obligations (RPOs) while strengthening clean energy generation capacity.
