Hindustan Power, led by Chairman Ratul Puri, has emerged as one of the most active private players in India’s clean energy transition this year, securing a series of large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across multiple states. The developments mark a decisive shift toward integrated renewable-plus-storage solutions, aligned with India’s evolving grid and energy security needs.
Since early 2025, the company has added nearly 1 GW of solar generation capacity and over 0.75 GWh of energy storage to its growing portfolio. The projects span standalone solar plants, ISTS-connected hybrid projects, and standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), reflecting the government’s increasing emphasis on storage-backed renewables.
Key Project Wins in 2025
🔹 435 MWp Solar Project – Uttar Pradesh
Hindustan Power signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a 435 MWp solar project, strengthening the state’s long-term clean power supply.
🔹 200 MWp Solar + 250 MWh Storage – SJVN (ISTS-connected)
The company secured an ISTS-connected project from SJVN Limited, involving the installation of 200 MWp solar capacity paired with over 250 MWh of battery storage, supporting grid stability and inter-state power flows.
🔹 120 MWh Standalone BESS – Bihar
In a major storage-focused milestone, Hindustan Power signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited for a 120 MWh standalone BESS project, spread across three substations. The project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.
🔹 150 MW ISTS-Connected Hybrid Project – SECI
The company’s most recent win came from SECI, where it secured an ISTS-connected project with 150 MW of contracted capacity, involving the installation of approximately 300 MWp of solar and 360 MWh of battery storage. The project was awarded through a competitive bidding and e-reverse auction process.
Strategic Focus on Dispatchable Clean Power
With these wins, Hindustan Power is clearly positioning itself at the intersection of renewable generation and grid-scale storage, a segment increasingly seen as critical for India’s next phase of energy transition. The portfolio reflects a shift from pure capacity addition to flexible, dispatchable power solutions capable of supporting peak demand, grid balancing, and renewable integration.
Commenting on the progress, Ratul Puri, Chairman, Hindustan Power, said:
“By combining renewable generation with advanced storage, we are creating flexible, dispatchable power solutions that strengthen state grids and accelerate India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.”
Strengthening India’s Energy Security
As India scales up renewable capacity while managing grid complexity, Hindustan Power’s expanding solar-plus-storage footprint underscores the growing role of private developers in delivering reliable, round-the-clock clean energy. The company’s 2025 project pipeline reinforces its position as a key contributor to India’s energy security and decarbonisation goals, at a time when storage-backed renewables are becoming central to national power planning.
