HyperVault, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has secured 264 acres of land in Hyderabad to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data center campus with a potential capacity of up to 1 GW.
The Hyderabad AI data center campus will be purpose-built to meet the requirements of frontier AI companies and hyperscalers, supporting high-density GPU deployments for AI training, inference, and advanced computing workloads.
The development will be carried out in phases, aligned with customer demand and evolving technology requirements.
At full build-out, the campus is expected to rank among India’s largest and most advanced AI infrastructure facilities. The project will incorporate green energy and water-neutral design principles as part of its development.
The project is also expected to further strengthen Telangana’s position as a strategic hub for artificial intelligence and advanced digital infrastructure. Beyond the data center campus, the development is expected to support the growth of India’s AI infrastructure ecosystem across power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering, and operations.
The project is expected to generate several thousand direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region. HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to ₹70,000 crore to develop and manage the infrastructure.
Telangana CM Calls Project ‘Historic’
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, during a meeting with officials from TCS and HyperVault, described the project as “historic” not only for Telangana but for India.
“This establishes that Hyderabad is now at the forefront of the global AI revolution with a strong focus on infrastructure. This decade is one of Artificial Intelligence. Access to AI models and compute is fast-becoming public infrastructure and having this compute reside in Telangana gives us an advantage,” said the Chief Minister.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who led the negotiations for the partnership, said the agreement demonstrated Telangana’s investor-friendly approach and speed of execution.
“We tell the investors and corporations across the world, Telangana Means Business. We move at the speed and with clarity of process that matches the expectations of the tech and corporate world,” he said.
Sridhar Babu added that the project originated from a conversation between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January this year.
“Since then, within a few months, officials and our friends at HyperVault and TCS have moved at the speed of thought to make this happen,” he said.
TCS Highlights AI Infrastructure Expansion
K. Krithivasan, CEO and Managing Director of TCS, also highlighted the significance of the project and the company’s focus on building infrastructure to support the rapidly expanding AI ecosystem.
The Hyderabad campus is expected to play a key role in supporting high-performance AI computing requirements while contributing to the development of a broader ecosystem around advanced digital infrastructure in Telangana and across India.
