KPI Green OMS Pvt. Ltd., part of KP Group, has launched the SR 2000 V3.0, a waterless solar panel cleaning robot designed for single-panel-in-portrait (1P) tracker systems and fixed-tilt solar installations. The robot delivers a claimed cleaning efficiency of 99.5%. It was unveiled at the Renewable Energy India Expo (REI Expo) 2026 in Greater Noida.
The robot addresses the challenge of dust accumulation on solar panels, which can reduce electricity generation. Water-based cleaning can be difficult in arid regions and remote locations where utility-scale solar plants are often situated. The SR 2000 V3.0 eliminates the need for water during cleaning, helping solar plant operators reduce water consumption and simplify routine maintenance.
The machine uses an ultraviolet (UV)-resistant polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) brush that rotates at 130 revolutions per minute (rpm). It operates at a noise level below 60 decibels (dB).
The SR 2000 V3.0 is primarily designed for single-axis solar trackers. Its body can twist by ±25°, while its ability to accommodate 20 mm of module undulation allows it to adapt to variations in the solar panel table as the tracker moves.
The robot features a four-wheel-drive system that enables it to climb inclines of 25° to 30° and operate on terrain with slopes of up to 10°. It can also be deployed at fixed-tilt solar installations. According to the company, the system is compatible with tracker solutions from NEXTracker, GameChange Solar and Arctech, among other manufacturers.
The robot can clean up to 3,600 solar modules in a single run, covering a distance of up to 6,000 metres on one charge. It operates at a speed of 18–20 metres per minute.
The SR 2000 V3.0 is powered by a self-charging 24-volt lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with a recharge time of approximately six hours. For remote monitoring and control, the system supports Long Range (LoRa), LoRa Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) and 4G connectivity through Modbus Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) communication protocols.
These features are intended to help operators manage cleaning activities across large solar installations while reducing the need for manual intervention.
The SR 2000 V3.0 has an IP65 ingress protection rating and a C5 corrosion-resistance rating for operation in demanding outdoor environments. It is designed to function at temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C and can operate in wind speeds of up to 15 metres per second (m/s).
When docked with its mechanical locking mechanism engaged, the robot can withstand wind speeds of up to 55 m/s. It measures 2,700 mm × 450 mm × 350 mm, weighs 45 kg and has a stated design life of 20 years.
The company also states that the product carries certifications from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, highlighted the importance of maintaining solar plant performance as India’s renewable energy capacity expands. He noted that dust accumulation remains a persistent challenge, particularly in locations where water availability is limited.
According to Patel, the SR 2000 V3.0 has been developed to provide a waterless and automated cleaning solution specifically suited to tracker-based solar installations. The technology is intended to help plant operators maintain clean modules, support electricity generation and reduce routine maintenance requirements.
The launch at REI Expo 2026 reflects KP Group’s focus on developing technologies for solar plant operations and maintenance as India’s renewable energy sector continues to expand.
