The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) convened the first meeting of its Wind Task Force on April 2, 2026, under the chairmanship of Shri Rajesh Kulhari, Joint Secretary, MNRE. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from across the wind energy sector to deliberate on critical challenges affecting project development and deployment in India.
The formation of the Task Force and the release of its Terms of Reference (ToR) mark a significant milestone for the sector. The initiative builds on discussions held during the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) Delhi Roundtable 2025, where the need for a coordinated approach to address industry bottlenecks was highlighted.
Industry Raises Key Concerns on Project Execution
The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) gave a full report on the industry’s problems during the meeting, highlighting the most important ones that need to be dealt with right away. The talk was mostly about the real-world problems that developers and manufacturers have to deal with when working on renewable energy projects.
Key discussion points included delays in regulatory approvals, complexities in land acquisition, and issues related to Right of Way (RoW). Stakeholders also highlighted constraints in grid allocation and various construction-related challenges that continue to impact project timelines and efficiency.
Focus on Streamlining Processes and Improving Coordination
The Wind Task Force’s goal is to help central and state governments work together better while also fixing problems with procedures and operations. The initiative’s goal is to speed up decision-making and make wind energy projects go more smoothly by providing a structured space for conversation.
The government’s effort reflects a broader commitment to strengthening India’s renewable energy ecosystem, particularly in the wind sector, which plays a crucial role in achieving the country’s clean energy targets.
Accelerating Wind Energy Growth
As the focus on increasing renewable energy capacity grows, the Task Force is expected to be a key player in helping states and other relevant authorities deal with problems at the project level. The goal of the initiative is to speed up the deployment of wind power projects across the country by fixing long-standing problems and making coordination easier.
The meeting is an important step toward making wind energy projects in India more efficient, cutting down on delays, and making sure they are finished on time.
