Vikram Solar has appointed Mukesh Kumar as General Manager & West Region Head (Mid Market), marking a significant leadership move as the renewable energy company looks to strengthen its presence and accelerate growth across the western market.
In his new role, Kumar will be responsible for driving strategic business growth, expanding market presence and building stronger relationships with customers and partners across the region. His mandate will also include advancing the adoption of innovative clean energy solutions and identifying new opportunities within the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.
Kumar brings more than 15 years of professional experience spanning the energy sector, business development, strategic accounts and B2B sales. His extensive industry background is expected to support Vikram Solar’s efforts to deepen its engagement with the mid-market segment and strengthen its regional commercial strategy.
Before joining Vikram Solar, Kumar served as Regional Head (Maharashtra) – Business Development at Manikaran Power Limited, where he was involved in business development initiatives and regional growth. His experience in Maharashtra provides him with valuable knowledge of one of India’s most commercially important and rapidly evolving energy markets.
Prior to Manikaran Power, Kumar held key account and B2B sales leadership positions at Adani Electricity, gaining experience in managing strategic customers and developing business relationships within the power sector. His career also includes more than a decade with Reliance Energy, where he built a strong foundation in energy-sector operations, sales and customer management.
The appointment comes at a time when India’s renewable energy sector is witnessing increased demand for solar power and other clean energy solutions. Commercial and industrial customers are increasingly looking for reliable, cost-effective and sustainable energy options, creating significant opportunities for renewable energy companies with strong regional capabilities.
Kumar’s experience across established energy companies and his background in strategic business development position him to play an important role in Vikram Solar’s western-region expansion. His focus on partnerships and customer-centric growth could also help the company develop deeper relationships across the mid-market segment.
The western region, encompassing major commercial and industrial markets, represents an important growth opportunity for renewable energy providers. With businesses increasingly prioritising decarbonisation, energy efficiency and long-term power cost optimisation, demand for solar solutions is expected to remain a key driver of the energy transition.
At Vikram Solar, Kumar will work toward translating these market opportunities into sustainable business growth while supporting the company’s broader clean energy objectives. His responsibilities are expected to include strengthening regional market penetration, developing strategic partnerships and delivering solutions tailored to evolving customer requirements.
With a career spanning multiple leading organisations in India’s energy sector, Kumar brings a combination of market knowledge, sales leadership and business development expertise to his new position. His appointment reinforces Vikram Solar’s focus on experienced leadership as it seeks to expand its footprint and contribute to India’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
For the battery and energy storage industry, the broader expansion of renewable energy and commercial solar adoption also creates opportunities for integrated solutions involving battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid renewable projects and flexible power management. As businesses seek greater energy resilience alongside decarbonisation, leadership appointments such as Kumar’s could play a role in shaping the next phase of clean-energy adoption across India’s western markets.
