Navitas Solar Partners With Caelux to Scale 5 GW Perovskite-TOPCon Module Production in India

Navitas Solar Partners With Caelux to Scale 5 GW Perovskite-TOPCon Module Production in India

Navitas Solar and US-based perovskite solar technology company Caelux Corporation have entered into a five-year partnership to commercialise and manufacture high-efficiency perovskite-TOPCon Hybrid Tandem solar modules in India. The collaboration targets a total manufacturing capacity of 5 GW, with commercial production expected to begin by 2028.

Under the partnership, Navitas Solar will integrate Caelux’s proprietary perovskite energy-producing glass with its N-type TOPCon module technology. The resulting Hybrid Tandem modules are expected to achieve efficiencies of up to 28% or higher, compared with current module efficiencies of around 25%, according to the companies.

The Hybrid Tandem technology combines two power-generation layers within a single solar module, enabling higher electricity generation from the same installation footprint compared with conventional silicon-only modules. The companies aim to establish one of India’s early large-scale manufacturing pathways for next-generation perovskite-based solar modules.

Navitas Caelux partnership comes as India’s solar industry continues to expand, with installed solar capacity exceeding 150 GW. The country is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030, creating demand not only for additional renewable generation but also for higher-efficiency technologies, domestic manufacturing, and resilient supply chains.

According to Navitas Solar, the collaboration is also expected to support greater domestic value addition under India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework. The companies intend to enable the deployment of advanced solar technologies across utility-scale projects, commercial and industrial (C&I) applications, and distributed solar installations.

Commenting on the partnership, Scott Graybeal, CEO of Caelux Corporation, said, “We are pleased to partner with Navitas Solar, a true visionary dedicated to scaling this important energy technology in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets. By integrating our technology into its module, Navitas Solar is taking the lead in India’s ambitious clean energy goals, both in terms of domestic production and deployment. Together, we aim to deliver advanced solar solutions that support India’s clean energy transition while strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities.”

Ankit Singhania, Co-Founder and Director of Navitas Solar, said the partnership represents an important step towards developing globally competitive, high-efficiency solar technologies in India. He added that combining Navitas Solar’s manufacturing expertise with Caelux’s perovskite technology could accelerate the large-scale production of Hybrid Tandem modules and support India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030.

Vish Iyer, Managing Director, India and West Asia, Caelux Corporation, said the collaboration demonstrates the potential of combining advanced technology with Indian supply chains and domestic employment. He added that integrating Caelux’s energy-producing glass into high-efficiency modules could help accelerate India’s clean energy transition.

Navitas Solar currently operates a multi-gigawatt manufacturing platform with capabilities spanning solar module production, solar encapsulants, and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. The partnership with Caelux is expected to add perovskite technology to the company’s manufacturing roadmap and strengthen its position in the development of high-efficiency Hybrid Tandem solar modules.

The planned 5 GW partnership highlights the growing interest in perovskite-silicon tandem technology as the solar industry seeks to overcome the efficiency limitations of conventional silicon modules. By combining perovskite technology with established TOPCon manufacturing, the companies aim to increase power output while making advanced solar technology available for large-scale deployment in India.
