NTPC Renewable Energy Commissions First Phase of 225 MW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy Commissions First Phase of 225 MW Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has commissioned the first 64.76 MW phase of its 225 MW GSECL RE Park project at Khavda, Gujarat. The development marks another milestone in the company’s efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its operational capacity.

In a regulatory filing, the company announced that the 64.76 MW phase of the Khavda solar project was declared commercially operational on July 24, 2026. Following the commissioning, NTPC Green Energy Limited’s commercial operating capacity at the group level has increased to 10,721.80 MW.

With the addition of this newly commissioned capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has reached 10,786.56 MW, reflecting the company’s continued progress in scaling up renewable energy generation across the country.

According to NTPC Green’s investor presentation as of June 30, 2026, the company had an operational solar capacity of 9,891 MW and an operational wind capacity of 780 MW. In addition to its operational assets, the company has 16,318 MW of contracted and awarded capacity, along with 6,424 MW of projects currently in the pipeline, highlighting its strong renewable energy development pipeline.

The company has witnessed significant growth in its operational capacity over the past year. As of March 2025, the NGEL Group’s operational capacity stood at 5,902 MW. During FY2026, the company added around 4,174 MW, increasing its operational capacity to 10,076 MW as of March 31, 2026.

The growth has continued into FY2027, with the company adding around 595 MW so far. As of June 30, 2026, the NGEL Group’s operational capacity had reached 10,671 MW, reflecting its ongoing focus on expanding clean energy infrastructure and supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.
