NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced that a 250 MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh will start commercial operations with 91.6 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity. The new capacity that is now online is the second phase of the project and adds to the company’s growing portfolio of renewable energy sources.
The company said that the 91.6 MW capacity went live on February 27, 2026. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) gave a certificate on March 9, 2026, that proved the business was up and running.
Second Phase of 250 MW Solar Project
The newly operational capacity represents the second phase of the 250 MW solar photovoltaic project currently being developed in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, NGEL had already declared the first phase capacity of 158.4 MW of the same project under commercial operation on February 20, 2026.
With the addition of the latest capacity, the project continues to move forward in phases as planned, contributing to India’s expanding solar power generation capacity.
Project Ownership and Development Structure
The solar project is being implemented by Ayana Kadapa Renewable Power Private Limited. The company operates as a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt Ltd.
Ayana Renewable Power Pvt Ltd itself is a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. This entity functions as a joint venture associated with NTPC Green Energy Limited and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Renewable Capacity Expansion
The NTPC Green Energy Limited Group’s total installed renewable energy capacity has gone up since they added more solar power.
Regulatory Disclosure
The development was formally disclosed by the company in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, which requires listed companies to report material events to stock exchanges.
On March 9, 2026, NGEL sent the disclosure to both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited. This confirmed that the new solar capacity was working.
The commissioning of this additional capacity marks another step in NTPC Green Energy’s ongoing expansion of its renewable energy portfolio in India.
