Premier Energies Expands Solar Cell Manufacturing Capacity to 10.6 GW

Premier Energies has increased its solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW following the commissioning of a new 7 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh.
Spread across 101 acres, the facility has been developed at a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore. According to the company, the plant is the largest solar cell manufacturing facility in India.
The newly commissioned facility manufactures N-type TOPCon G12R solar cells, an advanced technology designed to enable higher-efficiency solar modules. The plant has a production capacity of approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour.
With the addition of the 7 GW facility, Premier Energies’ total solar cell manufacturing capacity has reached 10.6 GW.
Commenting on the capacity expansion, Premier Energies Managing Director Chiranjeev Saluja said the addition would enable the company to meet growing demand while improving supply reliability and operational efficiency.
As part of its efforts to strengthen its solar manufacturing value chain, the company is also developing 10 GW of ingot manufacturing capacity and 10 GW of wafer manufacturing capacity.
In solar module manufacturing, cells are assembled into modules, while solar cells are produced using wafers, which in turn are manufactured from ingots.
Established in 1995, Premier Energies is one of India’s leading integrated solar manufacturing companies, with three decades of experience in photovoltaic technology. Backed by GEF Capital, a Washington DC–based private equity investor, the company has built a strong reputation for scale, quality, and manufacturing excellence.

Premier Energies operates advanced manufacturing facilities across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. As of January 2026, the company has an installed annual manufacturing capacity of 3.6 GW of solar cells and 5.4 GW of solar modules, following brownfield expansions commissioned in January 2026.

In addition, significant greenfield expansions are underway, including a 7 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, and a 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Seetharampur, Telangana, with phased commissioning planned through FY 2026.

The company manufactures high-efficiency mono PERC solar cells and is among the first Indian manufacturers to produce TOPCon solar cells, underscoring its focus on next-generation photovoltaic technologies. Its highly automated manufacturing operations comply with ALMM, DCR, and BIS requirements, meeting both domestic and international standards.

Premier Energies’ solar modules have demonstrated consistent performance and reliability and have been recognised as Top Performers in the Kiwa (formerly PVEL) Module Reliability Scorecard for multiple years, including 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Sustainability is integral to the company’s operations. Premier Energies operates India’s first USGBC LEED Gold–rated solar manufacturing facility, follows zero-waste-to-landfill practices, and has implemented robust ESG frameworks covering energy, water, sourcing, and employee safety.

With a strong people-first culture, Premier Energies has been certified as a Great Place to Work for five consecutive years up to FY 2026–27, reflecting its commitment to employee well-being, inclusion, and long-term growth.
