REMC Ltd., a subsidiary of RITES, has signed a Framework for Action (FFA) with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to strengthen cooperation in solar energy, renewable energy technologies and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The partnership aims to support renewable energy development through capacity building, knowledge exchange, technical assistance and project development, while contributing to Indian Railways’ Net Zero ambitions.
The agreement will facilitate collaboration between the two organisations in developing renewable energy projects and strengthening technical capabilities across the sector.
Joint Training and Technical Assistance
Under the Framework for Action, REMC and ISA will jointly develop practical, competency-based training programmes covering solar power and allied renewable energy technologies, including battery energy storage systems.
The collaboration will also provide technical assistance for renewable energy project development and implementation. Its scope includes feasibility assessments, technical due diligence, preparation and review of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and support during project execution.
These activities are expected to strengthen project development capabilities and improve the implementation of renewable energy initiatives.
Knowledge Exchange on Renewable Energy Policies
The partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange on renewable energy policies, regulatory frameworks, open access, power procurement mechanisms, carbon markets, greenhouse gas accounting and Net Zero pathways.
The collaboration will combine ISA’s international reach and expertise with REMC’s experience in renewable energy development, power procurement and energy management.
Through this cooperation, both organisations aim to strengthen technical knowledge and promote the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
Supporting Indian Railways’ Net Zero Ambitions
The agreement is expected to contribute to Indian Railways’ transition towards renewable energy and its Net Zero ambitions by supporting solar energy deployment and associated technologies, including energy storage.
The partnership will also create opportunities to share India’s renewable energy experience and technical knowledge with other countries and institutions through ISA’s international network.
The collaboration is expected to support wider renewable energy adoption while strengthening international cooperation in clean energy development.
