Ranial Systems India Pvt. Ltd. has announced a strategic partnership with Bondada Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. to design, implement and support the integration of an advanced Energy Management System for two standalone grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Tamil Nadu.
The collaboration represents an important step in supporting India’s clean energy transition. Located at Vellalaviduthi and Thennampatty, the projects will each have a storage capacity of 100 MW / 200 MWh, creating a combined capacity of 200 MW / 400 MWh. Both facilities will be directly connected to TANGEDCO’s 220 kV transmission network.
Grid-scale battery storage projects require much more than the deployment of physical infrastructure. They depend on real-time visibility, secure communication, deterministic control, high system availability, protection awareness and seamless coordination between battery systems, power conversion systems (PCS), battery control units (BCUs), SCADA systems, substations and grid operators.
At the centre of the initiative is CognitEMS™, Ranial Systems’ cognitive energy management and grid-edge automation platform. Designed to bring intelligence, integration and operational resilience to large-scale energy storage projects, the platform will play a key role in supporting efficient and reliable operations.
Serving as the operational “digital brain” of the facilities, CognitEMS™ will provide advanced monitoring, dispatch coordination, control orchestration, asset performance visibility, alarm intelligence and grid-interactive automation.
As renewable energy capacity continues to expand across India, energy storage systems are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the power grid. In addition to storing and supplying electricity, these systems help stabilise transmission networks, manage fluctuations in renewable generation, support peak demand requirements, improve dispatch reliability and reduce reliance on fossil-fuel-based balancing resources.
The projects will also benefit from enhanced operational intelligence and control capabilities for managing high-voltage energy assets.
Through the partnership, Ranial Systems India Pvt. Ltd. will contribute its expertise in cognitive energy management, distributed intelligence and grid-edge automation to support one of the country’s significant battery storage initiatives.
According to the company, the impact of the deployment extends beyond the two projects currently under development. The initiative is expected to create a scalable foundation for future transmission-scale energy storage integration, renewable energy management and grid modernisation efforts across India.
Ranial Systems stated that it is honoured to partner with Bondada Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. in supporting India’s vision of building a more resilient, flexible and renewable-ready power system.
