Roofsol Energy Signs 25-Year PPA with Nagarjuna Cement for 10.2 MWp Rooftop Solar Projects

Roofsol Energy Pvt Ltd has signed a long-term 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Nagarjuna Cement (NCL Industries Limited) for the development and supply of 10.2 MWp of rooftop solar power across the cement major’s manufacturing facilities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The agreement marks a significant step in strengthening renewable energy adoption within India’s energy-intensive cement sector.

Project Scope and Capacity Deployment

Under the agreement, Roofsol Energy will design, develop, and commission rooftop solar power plants at Nagarjuna Cement’s integrated cement manufacturing and grinding units. The total installed capacity of 10.2 MWp includes 5 MWp in Andhra Pradesh, 4.5 MWp in Telangana, and an additional 755 kWp across select facilities.

Once operational, the rooftop solar systems are expected to generate approximately 15 million units of clean electricity annually, enabling Nagarjuna Cement to significantly reduce its dependence on conventional power sources. The project is also projected to offset nearly 4,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year, reinforcing the company’s sustainability and decarbonisation commitments.

Supporting Sustainable Industrial Operations

NCL Industries Limited is a diversified manufacturing company with operations spanning Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC), particle boards, ready-mix concrete (RMC), and allied construction materials. With an installed cement production capacity exceeding 8,000 tonnes per day, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, and a strong distribution network, Nagarjuna Cement is a prominent player in India’s construction materials industry.

The rooftop solar initiative aligns with the company’s focus on energy efficiency, cost optimisation, and responsible manufacturing practices, while supporting India’s broader clean energy transition.

Roofsol Energy’s Execution Capabilities

Roofsol Energy will deliver the project through its end-to-end solar development capabilities, leveraging technical expertise, efficient project execution, and performance-driven design. The company continues to support large industrial and commercial consumers with high-quality rooftop solar solutions aimed at reducing energy costs and environmental impact.

With this PPA, Roofsol Energy further strengthens its portfolio of long-term solar power projects for industrial clients, demonstrating its commitment to delivering reliable, scalable, and sustainable renewable energy solutions for India’s manufacturing sector.
