SJVN Invites Bids for 250 MW / 500 MWh Standalone BESS

SJVN Ltd. has issued an open tender inviting bids to develop a 250 MW / 500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Panipat Thermal Power Station in Haryana.

In a move aimed at strengthening grid reliability and improving energy-storage readiness in the state, SJVN has launched this tender to support flexible power supply and peak-load management. The project is expected to enhance grid stability as renewable energy penetration increases.

  • Total BESS Capacity: 250 MW / 500 MWh
  • Project Location: Panipat Thermal Power Station, Haryana
  • Bidding Route: Competitive bid / Request for Selection (RfS)
  • Issuing Authority: SJVN Ltd.
  • Bid Submission Deadline: January 6, 2026

Financial & Bid Conditions

  • Bid Processing Fee: ₹1.5 million + applicable taxes
  • Earnest Money Deposit (EMD): ₹240,000 per MWh of quoted capacity
  • Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) on award: ₹600,000 per MWh of awarded capacity
  • Success Charge: ₹100,000 per MWh (as applicable)

Technical & Project Specifications

• Standalone BESS with on-demand charging and discharging capability

• Construction of transmission network and bay up to interconnection point

• Land for the project to be provided on lease / right-to-use basis

• Developer responsible for system installation, integration and testing

• Mandatory operation and maintenance for 12 years
