Solvo CellTech demonstrated a working battery cell at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur using active battery materials developed by its team, marking a step in its efforts to develop critical materials for next-generation energy storage technologies. The cell was demonstrated at IIT Kanpur’s Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering in the presence of Dr. Sudarshan Narayanan, Jaspreet Kaur, Satish Chandra and Dr. Kapil Dev Verma.
The demonstration showcased the application of Solvo CellTech’s advanced active materials in a functioning battery cell. The company is developing materials including SPAN, electrolytes and magnesium-doped NVP (Sodium Vanadium Phosphate) for next-generation sodium-ion and sodium-sulphur battery technologies.
Solvo CellTech said the development is focused on building critical battery material capabilities that can support India’s clean energy and energy storage ecosystem. The company collaborated with Xavolt Energy to translate the developed materials into a working battery cell.
The demonstration at IIT Kanpur highlights ongoing efforts to advance domestic battery material development and strengthen the technology base required for emerging sodium-based energy storage technologies in India.
