Sungrow and Enevo Group have signed a historic deal to put energy storage systems with a total capacity of 1 GWh in several projects in Romania. The partnership is a big step toward making the country’s energy storage market stronger and helping Europe move toward cleaner energy.
There will be two parts to the collaboration. The first phase has 440 MWh of storage space, which was ordered earlier this year and is set to be delivered by December 2026. The second phase will add 560 MWh, bringing the total capacity to over 1 GWh. However, this phase is not expected to be finished until after 2026.
Deployment of Advanced Storage Technology
All projects under the agreement will utilise Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a solution designed for large-scale grid support and renewable energy integration. The technology has already been deployed across multiple European markets, demonstrating its reliability and efficiency.
Supporting Romania’s Energy Transition
The agreement aligns with Romania’s broader target to install 5 GW of energy storage capacity by 2026, supported by government initiatives and funding mechanisms. Policy measures, including the removal of double taxation on stored electricity and ongoing tenders, are driving rapid market growth.
The deal gives Enevo Group more work as an EPC contractor on big energy storage projects and strengthens its partnership with Sungrow.
“Successful partnerships begin with a vision, shared goals, and a clear understanding of market evolution. Our collaboration with Sungrow started in the solar sector and has now developed into a broader strategic partnership,” said Radu Brasoveanu, CTO and Co-founder of Enevo Group. “We are now expanding this with our 1 GWh battery storage contract.”
Strengthening Market Presence
Sungrow also reinforced its commitment to supporting partners across all project stages. “The trust of our partners forms the foundation of our continuous growth,” said James Li, Vice President of Sungrow Europe. “We are pleased to work with Enevo Group on this pioneering 1 GWh project portfolio in Romania.”
The agreement highlights Sungrow’s expanding footprint in Eastern Europe and its role in advancing large-scale energy storage adoption.
