Sungrow has strengthened its residential energy storage portfolio with the launch of the MG12RL hybrid inverter, a new solution designed to enhance solar energy utilization, improve backup power reliability, and provide homeowners with greater energy independence.
The latest addition extends Sungrow’s residential storage offering from 5 kW up to 12 kW and is built to meet the growing demand for flexible and scalable home energy systems. Based on the company’s MGRL hybrid inverter platform, the system can be expanded through parallel connections, allowing total capacity to reach up to 96 kW for larger residential and small commercial applications.
The MG12RL inverter is compatible with multiple battery configurations, enabling storage capacities ranging from 5 kWh to 16 kWh, with the possibility of scaling up to 320 kWh. This flexibility allows users to tailor energy storage solutions according to their electricity consumption patterns and backup power requirements.
A standout feature of the new inverter is its ability to maximize solar generation. The system supports photovoltaic oversizing of up to 200% and delivers a maximum output capacity of 160%, helping homeowners capture and utilize more solar energy throughout the day. With support for input currents up to 20A, the inverter is compatible with a broad range of modern high-power solar modules.
Designed for operation in challenging environments, the MG12RL maintains full performance at ambient temperatures of up to 45°C. The inverter also incorporates Sungrow’s PID ZERO technology, which helps prevent potential-induced degradation in solar modules without requiring the system to disconnect from the grid, supporting long-term energy production and system efficiency.
The product has been developed with energy security in mind. During power outages, the inverter can switch to backup mode in as little as four milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted operation of essential household appliances. It also offers short-term overload capability, making it suitable for powering devices with high startup loads.
Ease of installation and operation is another focus area. The system features a 4.3-inch color touchscreen and can be commissioned locally within seconds, even without an internet connection. Users can also access real-time monitoring and remote management features through Sungrow’s iSolarCloud platform, enabling better control over energy consumption and system performance.
According to Sungrow, the MG12RL hybrid inverter is designed to address the increasing demand for reliable residential energy storage solutions as homeowners seek greater resilience against grid disruptions and rising electricity costs. By combining advanced inverter technology, scalable battery integration, and enhanced solar optimization, the company aims to deliver a more efficient and dependable home energy ecosystem.
The launch further reinforces Sungrow’s position in the rapidly growing residential energy storage market, where demand for smart, flexible, and high-performance energy solutions continues to rise globally.
