TruAlt Bioenergy has secured financial support of ₹150 crore under the Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana (PM-JI-VAN) for its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, marking a significant step toward advancing India’s clean fuel and bioenergy initiatives.
The support under the government’s biofuel promotion scheme is aimed at encouraging the development of advanced biofuel projects and accelerating the adoption of sustainable alternatives to conventional fuels. The funding assistance will help TruAlt Bioenergy strengthen its SAF project development and contribute to India’s renewable energy and low-carbon transition goals.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel has emerged as a key focus area globally as the aviation sector seeks solutions to reduce carbon emissions. SAF can be produced from renewable feedstocks and waste-based resources, offering a pathway to lower the environmental impact of air travel.
TruAlt Bioenergy’s project aligns with India’s efforts to promote advanced biofuels, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and create new opportunities in the bioenergy sector. The initiative is expected to support technology development, improve domestic capabilities, and encourage innovation in clean fuel production.
The PM-JI-VAN Yojana was introduced by the Government of India to provide financial support for integrated bioethanol and advanced biofuel projects. The scheme aims to promote the production of second-generation biofuels using agricultural residues and other renewable resources while helping address challenges related to waste management and emissions.
The support received by TruAlt Bioenergy highlights the growing importance of bioenergy solutions in India’s broader clean energy strategy. Along with solar, wind, and other renewable technologies, advanced biofuels are expected to play an important role in achieving energy security and sustainability objectives.
The SAF project is also expected to create opportunities across the renewable fuel value chain, including feedstock development, technology deployment, and employment generation.
With increasing focus on sustainable aviation and clean transportation fuels, projects supported through initiatives such as PM-JI-VAN are likely to contribute to India’s transition toward a more diversified and low-carbon energy ecosystem. TruAlt Bioenergy’s project represents another development in the country’s expanding biofuel landscape and efforts to build domestic capabilities in next-generation energy solutions.
