Vivek Jaiswal, Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officer, has joined Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and Director (Technical), bringing more than three decades of experience across telecommunications, electronics, technology and public-sector management.
Jaiswal’s appointment comes as ECIL continues to strengthen its capabilities across advanced electronics and technology-driven sectors. His extensive experience in telecommunications, instrumentation, business development and large-scale project execution is expected to support the company’s strategic and operational priorities.
Before joining ECIL, Jaiswal held leadership positions at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and BSNL.
During his tenure at BSNL, he served as Principal General Manager (Enterprise Business), where he was responsible for large-scale operations, enterprise business development and major technology projects. He also managed profit-and-loss portfolios exceeding INR 1,000 crore, giving him significant experience in financial management and business strategy.
Technology and Strategic Leadership
Jaiswal brings expertise spanning telecommunications, electronics, instrumentation and technology deployment, along with experience in managing complex public-sector operations.
His academic background includes an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, along with executive programmes at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and ESCP Europe.
His combination of technical, managerial and strategic experience is expected to be relevant as ECIL expands its role in advanced electronics and technology applications.
Potential Relevance for Battery and Energy Technologies
ECIL operates in areas involving electronics, embedded systems, control technologies and other strategic technology applications that can support India’s growing advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
As India accelerates investments in battery manufacturing, electric mobility, energy storage and power electronics, leadership with experience in technology execution and large-scale public-sector projects could play an important role in supporting the development of domestic capabilities.
Jaiswal’s appointment therefore adds a technology-focused leadership profile to ECIL at a time when India’s electronics and clean-energy ecosystems are undergoing rapid expansion.
