A 435 MWp solar power project in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, has achieved financial closure after the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) sanctioned ₹1,135 crore in debt financing, paving the way for the project’s next phase of development.
The project is among the larger solar developments currently being undertaken in Uttar Pradesh and is expected to add significant renewable generation capacity to the state’s energy mix.
With the debt financing secured, the project can now move forward with implementation and construction activities. Once operational, the solar plant is expected to contribute to the supply of clean and reliable electricity while supporting Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity.
The financial closure marks an important milestone for the project, providing the funding certainty required to advance its development at scale.
The 435 MWp Lalitpur project is also expected to support the broader growth of solar power in Uttar Pradesh, as the state works to increase the contribution of renewable sources to its electricity supply.
IREDA’s financing highlights the role of institutional funding in enabling large-scale renewable energy projects across India. Access to long-term debt remains critical for developers seeking to build utility-scale solar capacity and accelerate the country’s clean energy transition.
With financial closure now achieved, the project is set to enter its next stage of execution, bringing it closer to commissioning and delivering renewable power to the state.
The development adds to India’s expanding pipeline of utility-scale solar projects and reflects continued investment in renewable energy infrastructure as the country works toward its long-term clean energy and decarbonisation goals.
