Adani Power Ltd. has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) to supply 1,600 MW of electricity from a new ultra-supercritical thermal power plant.
The agreement follows the Letter of Award (LoA) issued by MSEDCL on March 15, after Adani Power emerged as the successful bidder in a competitive tender for the long-term procurement of 1,600 MW of electricity. The company had quoted a first-year tariff of ₹5.30 per kWh, with commercial power supply expected to begin from FY2030-31.
Power will be sourced from a 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, which will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model. The project has also secured domestic coal linkage under the Centre’s SHAKTI policy, ensuring long-term fuel availability for the plant.
The latest agreement strengthens Adani Power’s long-term contracted portfolio and supports Maharashtra’s future electricity demand through a dedicated baseload power supply arrangement.
At the time of receiving the LoA, the company had stated that the MSEDCL contract marked its fifth long-term PSA win during FY2025-26, taking its cumulative contracted capacity under new projects to 13.3 GW out of an under-implementation pipeline of 23.8 GW.
Adani Power also noted that more than 95% of its operational capacity and over 55% of its upcoming capacity are tied up under medium- and long-term power supply agreements, providing stable revenue visibility.
The company is pursuing a significant capacity expansion plan, aiming to increase its installed generation capacity from around 18.15 GW to 41.87 GW by FY2031-32, backed by an investment programme of approximately ₹2 lakh crore
