AlphaESS has been recognised as a Tier 1 global energy storage manufacturer by BloombergNEF (BNEF) for the fifth consecutive quarter, securing its position in the Q4 2026 list. The recognition reflects the company’s track record in energy storage projects and its expanding presence in the global utility-scale storage market.
The Q4 2026 assessment introduced stricter bankability criteria, requiring energy storage equipment providers to demonstrate project experience supported by non-recourse financing from at least two commercial banks across eligible projects. AlphaESS’ continued inclusion provides developers, investors and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partners with an additional reference when evaluating energy storage suppliers.
AlphaESS Advances 200 MWh European Storage Projects
AlphaESS is expanding its utility-scale energy storage portfolio across Europe, with projects in Lithuania, Austria and Germany collectively accounting for 200 MWh of capacity.
In Lithuania, a 120 MWh battery energy storage project equipped with AlphaESS’ Aster 5000 system has successfully completed its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), with equipment ready for shipment.
In Austria, AlphaESS supplied the DC-side battery system for a 30 MW/60 MWh project in Hörsching. The installation integrates solar generation, battery storage and electric truck charging while supporting grid services and backup power. Its 40 MWh grid-services component entered operation in September 2026.
In Germany, the company is supplying the DC-side battery system for a 20 MWh project in Bavaria. Designed for grid balancing and energy arbitrage, the project is scheduled for commissioning in 2027.
Aster 5000 Supports Utility-Scale Applications
AlphaESS’ utility-scale portfolio is supported by its Aster 5000 battery energy storage system, which features liquid cooling and is housed in a 20-foot container with approximately 5 MWh capacity per unit.
The system incorporates intelligent thermal management, an advanced battery management system and multiple safety protection layers. It is designed for applications including grid stabilisation, renewable energy integration and other utility-scale storage requirements.
AlphaESS Expands Global Energy Storage Presence
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Nantong, China, AlphaESS provides residential, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale energy storage solutions. The company operates across more than 130 countries and regions, supported by over 400 service points worldwide.
Its continued BloombergNEF Tier 1 recognition and growing European project portfolio highlight its expanding participation in the global energy storage market.
