Engineering Projects (India) Limited (EPI) has taken another step towards supporting India’s clean energy ambitions by issuing an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of a 250 MW solar power project in Rajasthan. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s expanding renewable energy capacity while helping meet the growing demand for sustainable electricity.
The project has been structured as a comprehensive Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) assignment, covering every stage of development—from design and equipment procurement to construction, testing, commissioning, and grid integration. By adopting an end-to-end EPC approach, EPI aims to ensure smooth project execution, greater accountability, and efficient delivery timelines.
One of the key aspects of the project is the inclusion of land acquisition within the scope of work. Since land availability is often a critical factor in the success of large-scale solar projects, interested developers and contractors will be required to demonstrate their ability to identify, secure, and manage suitable land parcels. Rajasthan’s vast open spaces and high solar irradiation make it one of the most attractive destinations in India for utility-scale solar development.
The project scope also extends beyond construction, with operation and maintenance (O&M) services forming an integral part of the contract. This approach highlights the importance of ensuring long-term efficiency and reliable performance of the solar plant. Effective maintenance practices are essential for maximizing energy output, reducing downtime, and maintaining asset performance throughout the project’s lifecycle.
Rajasthan has consistently remained at the forefront of India’s renewable energy growth story. With abundant sunshine, favourable climatic conditions, and large tracts of available land, the state has attracted significant investments in solar energy over the years. The proposed 250 MW project is expected to further strengthen Rajasthan’s position as a leading renewable energy hub.
The opportunity is likely to generate strong interest from EPC contractors, renewable energy developers, infrastructure companies, and technology providers. As India’s solar sector continues to grow rapidly, projects of this scale offer companies an opportunity to expand their portfolios, strengthen market presence, and contribute to the nation’s energy transition goals.
The addition of utility-scale solar projects remains crucial as India works towards achieving its ambitious renewable energy targets. With electricity demand rising due to industrial growth, urbanisation, and economic development, solar power is expected to play an increasingly important role in meeting future energy needs while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
Beyond clean energy generation, the project is also expected to create economic value by generating employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases. Large-scale solar developments often support jobs across engineering, manufacturing, logistics, construction, and maintenance while encouraging investment in supporting infrastructure and local services.
The release of this EOI underscores the continued momentum of India’s renewable energy expansion. By combining EPC execution, land acquisition, and long-term O&M responsibilities within a single project framework, EPI aims to ensure efficient implementation and sustainable operation. Once completed, the 250 MW solar facility is expected to make a meaningful contribution to India’s clean energy capacity and support the country’s long-term sustainability objectives.
