Genus Power, a top provider of end-to-end energy measurement solutions in India, has reached a big goal by installing 1 crore smart meters as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The installations are finished in nine states where the company is a leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) for major DISCOMs.
This achievement shows that Genus Power can do a good job all over the country and is becoming more important in helping with big changes to the way power is distributed.
To further strengthen its manufacturing capacity, the company has recently added a new integrated facility at Kotputli, in addition to its existing units in Jaipur, Haridwar, and Guwahati. These facilities are supporting India’s grid modernization and digital energy transformation initiatives.
Strong Manufacturing and R&D Backbone
Genus’s advanced research and manufacturing skills have made it possible to make smart meters that are both high-quality and dependable. Along with the 1 crore meters that RDSS directly put in place, Genus has also put in place 1.5 crore smart meters through other AMISPs and utility partners.
With a total of 2.5 crore Genus smart meters now operational across India out of nearly 5.62 crore deployed nationally the company has established itself as one of the country’s most trusted smart metering providers.
The large-scale deployment is improving billing accuracy, increasing transparency, enabling faster complaint resolution, and providing real-time energy consumption data to households and businesses.
Supporting India’s Smart Grid Mission
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Jitendra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Genus Power, said, “Crossing the 1 crore smart meter mark is a defining moment not just for Genus Power, but for India’s power distribution transformation. RDSS represents largest smart metering rollouts globally, and this milestone reflects the sector’s clear shift toward system resilience and execution at scale. This journey has been built on conviction, faith in the reform, and confidence in India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities. India’s power reforms now demand the right power-tech infrastructure, and Genus is on war-footing to support utilities as this transformation moves into its most critical phase.”
India wants to replace 25 crore regular meters with smart meters by 2028 as part of the RDSS program. Genus Power is still a key player in the National Smart Grid Mission and is also expanding its business in Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and the SAARC regions.
