GFCL EV Products to Set Up USD 216 Million Battery Materials Facility in Oman

GFCL EV Products Limited, a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited and part of the INOXGFL Group, has said that it will build a new factory in the Salalah Free Zone in Oman. A regulatory filing made the announcement. The new plant will focus on making high-tech battery materials for electric vehicles (EVs) and storing energy.

Investment and Project Structure

The project will be carried out by GFCL EV (SFZ) LLC, and it will cost about $216 million to start. The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in Oman has helped the company sign an investment agreement with the Sultanate of Oman through Invest Oman. Also, a land lease agreement has been signed with Salalah Free Zone Company LLC.

This formal agreement marks a significant step in GFCL EV Products’ global expansion strategy, particularly in the advanced battery materials segment.

Focus on Advanced Battery Materials

The new facility is meant to meet the growing global need for battery materials used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems of the next generation. As more people around the world buy electric vehicles, the need for high-performance battery parts keeps growing. The Oman plant is likely to be very important in meeting this need.

Backed by INOXGFL Group

The INOXGFL Group owns GFCL EV Products, which has a market value of about $12 billion. The group has a wide range of business interests, including chemicals, refrigerants, fluoropolymers, and renewable energy sources like wind and solar power.

A company spokesperson stated, “The establishment of this facility in Oman reflects our commitment to expanding our presence in advanced battery materials and supporting the growing global demand for electric mobility and energy storage solutions.”

Supporting Future Energy and Mobility

The Oman project is aligned with global efforts to accelerate clean energy adoption and electrified mobility. By investing in advanced battery materials manufacturing, GFCL EV Products aims to strengthen its position in the evolving energy ecosystem and contribute to next-generation mobility solutions.
