Grid Controller of India Limited (GRID-INDIA) has invited eligible Indian entities to develop indigenous, modular and interoperable Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management System (EMS) software for the country’s Load Despatch Centres. The initiative aims to strengthen domestic capabilities in critical power-grid control technology and reduce dependence on imported systems.
The Expression of Interest (EoI) proposes a development framework under which up to five Indian development partners may be selected. The programme includes seed funding for selected developers and a target-oriented development period of 36 months.
Key Highlights
- Development partners: Up to five eligible Indian entities
- Development timeline: 36 months
- Financial support: Seed funding for selected developers
- Core focus: Indigenous software, interoperability, testing, cybersecurity and implementation
- Application: Software for Load Despatch Centres across India
Focus on Grid Operations and Interoperability
SCADA and EMS platforms are essential to the real-time monitoring and management of electricity networks. They help Load Despatch Centres monitor grid conditions, assess system performance and support secure power-system operations.
Through the EoI, GRID-INDIA aims to encourage the development of software that can operate across different systems and support future upgrades. The emphasis on modular architecture and interoperability is intended to improve compatibility between applications and reduce dependence on vendor-specific platforms.
The programme also highlights testing, cybersecurity and implementation as key elements of the development process, reflecting the importance of reliability and security in critical power infrastructure.
How to Participate
Interested Indian organisations can access the EoI document through GRID-INDIA’s official website under Home → Tenders → Expression of Interest (EoI) & Announcements.
The initiative forms part of the broader push to develop indigenous technology for India’s power sector, strengthen domestic software capabilities and support the long-term modernisation of grid operations.
