The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has achieved approximately 60–70% progress against its identified targets under Special Campaign 6, which focuses on cleanliness, office efficiency and reducing pending work across government establishments. The initiative covers MNRE offices, Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) and autonomous institutes, with activities aimed at improving workplace conditions and administrative efficiency.
As part of the campaign, MNRE is conducting cleanliness drives across offices, corridors and canteens. The Ministry is also reviewing and disposing of outdated physical records, removing unnecessary materials and ensuring the proper disposal of electronic waste in accordance with applicable guidelines.
The campaign covers two CPSUs, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) and the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). It also includes three autonomous institutes: the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) and the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio-Energy (SSS-NIBE).
Launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Special Campaign 6 aims to establish cleanliness as a regular administrative practice while reducing pendency in government offices. The implementation phase commenced on October 2, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until October 31, 2026.
MNRE is continuing its efforts to achieve the remaining targets within the stipulated period. The campaign also seeks to improve the use of available office space, strengthen record management practices and ensure the timely resolution of pending matters.
Through these measures, the Ministry aims to promote cleaner workplaces, greater accountability and more efficient use of administrative resources. The initiative is also intended to encourage sustainable office management practices across MNRE and its associated organisations beyond the campaign period.
