RECPDCL Transfers Ryapte Power Transmission SPV to Tata Power

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has transferred Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established for the Evacuation Scheme for the 2,000 MW Solar Park at Ryapte Village in Karnataka’s Tumkur district, to The Tata Power Company Limited.

The transfer was completed on July 30, 2026, following The Tata Power Company Limited’s selection as the successful bidder under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. RECPDCL served as the Bid Process Coordinator for the development of the intra-state transmission project, which will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The SPV was formally handed over by Monisha Barua, General Manager & HoD, RECPDCL, to Tarun Katiyar, CEO & MD, TPTCL, in the presence of the Managing Director of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), along with senior officials from KPTCL, The Tata Power Company Limited, and RECPDCL.

The transmission project includes the development of 400/220 kV substations at Ryapte and Doddathaggalli (near Hosakote), the construction of approximately 207 km of 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines and 57 km of 220 kV double-circuit transmission lines, along with associated infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months and involves an estimated investment of Rs 3,200 crore.

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The company provides consultancy and project development services across the power sector, with expertise in generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and power infrastructure planning. RECPDCL also acts as a bid process coordinator for transmission projects awarded through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism and helps develop and transfer special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for power infrastructure projects.
