Grasim Industries Limited’s Advanced Materials Division, Aditya Birla Renewables Limited (ABRen) and Suzlon Energy Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop, commercialise and scale wind turbines equipped with recyclable blades using Recyclamine® technology in India. The agreement was signed on November 4, 2026, at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in New Delhi.
The collaboration aims to advance circularity in the wind energy sector by introducing recyclable blade technology and developing sustainable solutions for wind turbine blades at the end of their operational life.
Recyclamine Technology Enables Blade Recycling
Conventional wind turbine blades are primarily manufactured using thermoset composite materials, which are difficult to recycle after their service life. These blades often end up in landfills or are disposed of through incineration.
Recyclamine epoxy technology, supplied by Grasim, enables the chemical recycling of composite materials used in wind turbine blades. The process allows valuable composite constituents to be recovered and reused in new applications, supporting waste reduction, resource efficiency and circular economy practices in wind energy.
Suzlon to Integrate Recyclable Blade Technology
Under the partnership, Suzlon, as the wind turbine original equipment manufacturer (OEM), will integrate Recyclamine® technology into the manufacturing of recyclable wind turbine blades.
Aditya Birla Renewables will deploy a wind turbine featuring recyclable blades at one of its selected project sites to demonstrate the commercial viability of the technology under real-world operating conditions.
The companies will also explore opportunities to expand commercialisation and market adoption of recyclable blade-enabled wind turbines across India and other mutually agreed markets.
Rajesh Balakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Materials at Grasim Industries Limited, said the partnership combines Recyclamine technology with Suzlon’s manufacturing expertise and ABRen’s renewable energy ambitions to accelerate recyclable wind blade adoption and improve resource efficiency across the wind industry.
The collaboration represents an effort to introduce circular material solutions into India’s wind energy ecosystem and develop more sustainable approaches to wind turbine blade manufacturing and end-of-life management.
