SLR Solar Secures 1.02 GW ALMM Approval for TOPCon Modules, Eyes Cell Manufacturing and BESS Expansion

SLR Solar Gains ALMM Approval, Targets Integrated Clean Energy

SLR Solar Pvt. Ltd. has secured a significant milestone in its manufacturing journey after receiving approval under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I for an annual manufacturing capacity of 1,020 MW of TOPCon G12R 132 Half-Cut Cell Bifacial Solar PV Modules. The approval enables the company’s modules to be deployed in government-backed, open access and net-metering solar projects across India, strengthening its position in the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.

The ALMM certification covers SLR Solar’s advanced N-Type TOPCon bifacial module portfolio, manufactured at the company’s facility, and comes at a time when India is accelerating domestic manufacturing under stricter ALMM compliance norms. With ALMM now mandatory for government-supported solar projects and increasingly becoming a benchmark for private developers, the approval significantly enhances SLR Solar’s market opportunities across utility-scale, commercial and industrial (C&I), and distributed solar installations.

Beyond the immediate milestone, SLR Solar has outlined an ambitious roadmap to transform itself into an integrated clean energy manufacturer. The company plans to expand into solar photovoltaic cell manufacturing, allowing it to strengthen backward integration as India transitions to mandatory use of ALMM-listed solar cells. This strategic move is expected to reduce dependence on imported components while enhancing supply-chain resilience and domestic value addition.

In addition to solar manufacturing, SLR Solar is preparing to diversify into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment. As India’s renewable energy capacity continues to expand, demand for grid-scale and commercial energy storage solutions is expected to grow rapidly, making BESS an increasingly important pillar of the country’s clean energy transition. The proposed expansion reflects SLR Solar’s intention to evolve beyond module manufacturing and establish a broader presence across the renewable energy value chain.

The latest approval also builds on the company’s recent manufacturing expansion strategy. Earlier this year, SLR Solar inaugurated an 800 MW fully automated TOPCon solar module manufacturing facility, with plans to significantly increase production capacity in the coming years while exploring adjacent manufacturing segments. The ALMM approval now provides an important regulatory validation for its high-efficiency module portfolio and positions the company to participate more actively in India’s rapidly growing solar market.

As India pushes towards 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, domestic manufacturing has become central to the government’s renewable energy strategy. With ALMM approvals increasingly determining market access, companies are expanding from standalone module production into integrated manufacturing ecosystems encompassing cells, modules and energy storage technologies. SLR Solar’s latest milestone reflects this broader industry shift and reinforces its long-term growth ambitions within India’s evolving clean energy landscape.

SLR Solar’s 1.02 GW ALMM approval provides a strong foundation for its next phase of growth. As the company advances plans for solar cell manufacturing and Battery Energy Storage Systems, it is positioning itself as an integrated clean energy manufacturer capable of supporting India’s expanding renewable energy and energy storage markets.
