Waaree Solar Americas, the U.S. subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, has secured a 236.22 MW solar module supply contract for a utility-scale solar project in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, marking another major step in the company’s expansion in the U.S. renewable energy market.
Under the agreement, Waaree Solar Americas will supply its advanced N-Type G12R solar modules in 615 Wp and 620 Wp configurations. The modules will be manufactured at the company’s solar module production facility in Brookshire, Texas, supporting the growing demand for locally produced solar equipment in the United States.
The latest contract further strengthens Waaree’s growing U.S. project pipeline as the company continues to focus on expanding its presence in one of the world’s largest solar markets. Rising renewable energy deployment, supportive clean energy policies, and efforts to develop a domestic solar supply chain have made the U.S. a key strategic market for the company.
Waaree’s Strong Order Pipeline
Waaree Energies currently has an order book of around ₹53,000 crore, reflecting strong demand for its solar modules across domestic and international markets.
“The order reflects the increasing confidence that utility-scale developers have in Waaree Solar Americas as a trusted domestic manufacturing partner,” said Sunil Rathi, Executive Director, Waaree Group.
He added that the company’s “Made-in-America” solar modules combine advanced technology, quality, and reliable execution, which are becoming increasingly important as the U.S. solar sector continues to expand.
According to Rathi, the latest contract strengthens Waaree’s order pipeline and highlights the company’s long-term commitment to supporting the clean energy transition in the U.S. through domestic manufacturing.
Kentucky Solar Project
The Kentucky project is expected to contribute to the state’s renewable energy objectives while improving energy security through the use of domestically manufactured solar infrastructure.
The agreement also expands Waaree Solar Americas’ portfolio of utility-scale projects in the country and reflects its continued investment in building a strong U.S.-based solar manufacturing ecosystem.
Waaree’s U.S. Expansion Strategy
Waaree Solar Americas has been rapidly scaling its operations in the U.S. solar market since establishing its manufacturing presence in Brookshire, Texas. The company initially announced plans for a 3 GW annual solar module manufacturing facility and has since outlined plans to expand capacity toward 5 GW, along with integrated solar cell manufacturing.
The company has secured several large-scale solar module supply agreements in the U.S. in recent months, including a 540 MW module supply contract, a $176 million agreement involving 586 MW of modules with a major U.S. solar and storage developer, a 452 MW supply deal, and a 288 MW order from Sabancı Renewables for projects in Texas.
The latest Kentucky order comes as Waaree continues its aggressive expansion in the U.S. market, while the company also faces scrutiny related to an ongoing probe involving alleged duty evasion issues linked to its U.S. operations. Despite these challenges, the company remains focused on strengthening its manufacturing footprint and expanding its role in the global solar supply chain.
