Zinc Battery Initiative Welcomes HuaZinc as First Chinese Member

Chinese rechargeable nickel-zinc battery manufacturer Hangzhou HuaZinc Energy Company has joined the Zinc Battery Initiative (ZBI), the voice of the industry and a program of the International Zinc Association.

HuaZinc, a subsidiary of Gerchamp, is the first zinc battery developer in China to join ZBI.

Founded in 2005 in Hangzhou, Gerchamp serves customers across the data center and renewable energy industries. The nickel-zinc battery manufacturer provides fully integrated energy storage platforms, including batteries, cabinets, uninterruptible power supply, as well as battery management, energy management, environmental monitoring, and power conversion systems, with the goal of delivering safer, smarter, and greener infrastructure solutions for AI computing and renewable energy.

“Welcoming Gerchamp/HuaZinc into the Zinc Battery Initiative marks a significant milestone,” said Dr. Josef Daniel-Ivad, Manager of the Zinc Battery Initiative. “Rechargeable zinc batteries truly have become a global industry, and we are excited to partner with HuaZinc to promote the clear advantages of this growing technology.”

Dr. Zijie Tang, Deputy General Manager of HuaZinc and Head of nickel-zinc Battery Technology at Gerchamp, added “We are honored to join ZBI and collaborate with industry partners to advance the adoption of safe and sustainable zinc battery technologies. Our nickel-zinc technology is already supporting critical backup power applications in data centers, and we see significant potential for zinc batteries across a broader range of energy storage applications.”

Gerchamp/HuaZinc is the 28th company to join the Zinc Battery Initiative, which champions zinc-based technologies through its work with governments, webinars, networking, and education and media campaigns.

The full list of ZBI’s members includes Abound, AZA Battery, Batricity, Brüggemann, Coulomb Technology, Delfort, Diamonchem, EasylZinc, Enzinc, Eos Energy Enterprises, EverZinc, e-Zinc, GP Energy Tech, Grillo, Hilabs, IMR Metal Powder Technologies GmbH, JG Chemicals, Nippon Shokubai, Octet Scientific, Salient Energy, Silox, Urban Electric Power, ZAF Energy Systems/AEsir Technologies, Inc., Zelos, ZincFive, and Zochem.

The Zinc Battery Initiative (ZBI) is a program of the International Zinc Association. ZBI was formed in 2020 to promote the further adoption of rechargeable zinc battery products. ZBI members are premier companies in the industry; each has its own proprietary technology but shares a common base of zinc.

Hangzhou HuaZinc Energy Company, a subsidiary of Gerchamp (Stock code: 301157), develops nickel-zinc battery technologies and integrated energy solutions for critical digital infrastructure and renewable energy applications. With capabilities spanning battery development, system integration and manufacturing, HuaZinc is focused on delivering safe, high-power and sustainable energy solutions for next-generation data centers and other critical applications.
