Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has announced the successful bidders for its auction to procure power from 250 MW of grid-connected wind power projects (Phase XI). The auction is another step towards expanding renewable energy capacity through long-term power procurement.
Among the selected developers, NLC India Renewables secured the largest allocation of 100 MW while Juniper Green Energy and Powerica were awarded 50 MW each. All three companies secured their respective capacities at a tariff of Rs 3.51 per kWh. The remaining 50 MW capacity was awarded to Cu-Built Renewable Energy at a tariff of Rs 3.52 per kWh.
As per the procurement process, GUVNL will enter into Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the selected bidders for a tenure of 25 years. The tender for procurement of these wind power projects was floated in May 2026.
As per the tender guidelines, the selected developers will be responsible for setting up grid-connected wind power projects, including transmission infrastructure required to connect the projects to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) or State Transmission Utility (STU) network. The projects may be set up at locations chosen by the successful bidders anywhere in India, with all costs, risks and responsibilities to be borne by the developers.
The guidelines also stated that only type-certified wind turbine models mentioned in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (Wind) prepared by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy shall be eligible for deployment under the project.
Separately, GUVNL signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with SJVN Limited in July 2026 for the procurement of green power from the company’s upcoming hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh, including the 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydroelectric Project (HEP), the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I HEP and the 382 MW Sunni Dam HEP, further strengthening GUVNL’s renewable energy portfolio.
