Jupiter International Limited has commissioned its third solar cell manufacturing facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion strategy. The new unit strengthens the company’s production capabilities at a time when demand for solar cells is rising across India.
The Kolkata-based solar cell manufacturer announced that the newly operational facility adds 1 GW of mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) capacity to its existing 959 MW base. With this latest addition, Jupiter International’s total installed solar cell manufacturing capacity has nearly doubled to approximately 2 GW.
The company stated that this expansion underlines its continued commitment to strengthening its manufacturing presence in India and supporting the country’s growing renewable energy sector.
Developed by Wholly-Owned Subsidiary
Jupiter Solartech Private Limited (JSTPL), a company that is 100% owned by Jupiter International Ltd., built the new plant. The company says that opening the third unit fits with its long-term growth plan and makes it more competitive in the domestic solar manufacturing market.
By increasing its production capacity, Jupiter International wants to better meet the needs of project developers and module manufacturers across the country.
Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Growth
The solar industry in India has been growing steadily thanks to more installations, good government policies, and a strong focus on boosting manufacturing in India. Companies like Jupiter International’s capacity expansions are seen as important for building a stronger local solar supply chain and reducing reliance on imports.
India’s goals for renewable energy will get more help from Jupiter International now that this new unit is up and running. The company’s increased capacity will help meet the growing demand for solar cells and support the country’s shift to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
