Powertrac Group has invested ₹600 crore to set up a 1,000 MWh per annum containerised Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in India. With this move, the company joins other players such as Hoymiles and Pace Digitek that have recently entered the containerised BESS segment.
Divyarajsinh Zala, Managing Director of Powertrac Group, shared in a social media post that the company is shifting its focus toward establishing a dedicated BESS facility. The plant will focus on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP)-based battery pack assembly along with in-house Battery Management System (BMS) development and integration.
The company also plans to introduce 1–5 MWh modular containerised grid-scale BESS solutions and offer solar-plus-BESS hybrid energy systems. This expansion supports Powertrac’s larger objective of achieving 1,000 MW (1 GW) of operational Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects by 2030.
Other Companies Strengthen Presence in Containerised BESS
Several companies have recently expanded into the containerised battery storage space. Pace Digitek, which earlier operated in the telecom sector, entered the battery storage segment last year. The company is building containerised battery storage solutions and plans to expand further with a new battery energy storage facility.
Similarly, Hoymiles has introduced its HOYDC 5 MWh containerised BESS to enhance the reliability of renewable energy systems. According to the company, the HOYDC 5 MWh solution addresses challenges related to grid security and green power reliability. It described the system as compact, intelligent, scalable, and designed for utility-scale as well as commercial applications, focusing on performance, safety, and flexibility.
In 2025, Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of the Jupiter Group, launched new 10-ft and 20-ft containerised BESS solutions. The first 10-ft BESS unit was supplied in partnership with GMMCO to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube, which works on decarbonisation initiatives in the events, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
The growing number of companies entering this segment reflects rising demand for containerised battery storage solutions across India’s renewable energy and grid-scale markets.
