RenewSys India, one of the top makers of solar PV modules and parts, has opened a fully automated solar module manufacturing plant in Khopoli, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 3 GW. With this expansion, the company can now make 5.6 GW of modules, which makes it a major player in India’s solar manufacturing sector. The new building covers more than 65,000 square meters and uses cutting-edge production methods and digital monitoring systems to guarantee high accuracy, efficiency, and consistent product quality.
Strategically located in Maharashtra near Mumbai, the Khopoli plant benefits from multimodal connectivity, which facilitates faster supply chain operations and quicker access to both domestic and international markets. The facility is expected to play a key role in supporting India’s renewable energy targets while enhancing the company’s competitiveness in global solar exports.
Commenting on the launch, Avinash Hiranandani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of RenewSys India, said: “The inauguration of our 3 GW AI-powered, fully automated facility at Khopoli marks a major milestone in RenewSys’ expansion strategy.”
The facility was officially inaugurated by Saif Dhorajiwala, Co-founder and Executive Director of Fourth Partner Energy, emphasizing collaboration between Indian solar manufacturers and renewable energy solution providers.
RenewSys India makes solar PV modules, backsheets (4 GW), and encapsulants. The Khopoli facility is set up to handle high-volume production while still meeting strict quality standards. The company’s planned solar cell lines and expansion will help it meet rising domestic demand and take advantage of export opportunities in global solar markets.
This milestone shows that RenewSys is dedicated to advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy solutions, and building a strong domestic solar supply chain. This will help India transition to renewable energy and reach its climate and energy goals.
