The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has launched the second cohort of its Corporate Sustainability Leadership Programme (CSLP), a professional training programme that focuses on sustainability, ESG, artificial intelligence (AI) and carbon markets.
The 13-week hybrid programme, developed in collaboration with Firstpost and Zenora, is scheduled to begin in August 2026. It is designed for professionals, business leaders and sustainability practitioners who want to build a better understanding of emerging sustainability requirements and business practices.
According to TERI, the programme will cover a range of topics including ESG reporting, greenhouse gas accounting, carbon finance, climate risk, net-zero planning and the growing role of AI in sustainability management. Participants will also be introduced to global sustainability frameworks and reporting standards that are increasingly being adopted by companies around the world.
The launch comes as businesses across sectors face growing expectations from investors, customers and regulators regarding sustainability performance. In recent years, ESG reporting, emissions tracking and decarbonisation planning have become important areas of focus for companies looking to strengthen their environmental commitments and long-term business strategies.

TERI said the Corporate Sustainability Leadership Programme aims to help participants understand both the regulatory and practical aspects of sustainability. Through industry case studies, expert-led sessions and project-based learning, participants will gain insights into how organisations are addressing sustainability challenges and implementing climate-related goals.
Artificial intelligence is one of the key focus areas of the second cohort. As companies increasingly use digital tools to analyse data, monitor emissions and improve reporting processes, AI is becoming an important part of sustainability management. The programme will explore how these technologies can support better decision-making and operational efficiency.
Carbon markets and climate finance will also receive special attention. With countries and industries working towards net-zero targets, demand is growing for professionals who understand carbon credits, carbon trading mechanisms and emission reduction strategies. TERI believes this knowledge will become increasingly valuable as sustainability considerations become more closely linked with business growth and investment decisions.
The programme follows the successful completion of its first cohort and reflects the increasing interest in sustainability-focused professional development in India. Over the past few years, organisations have expanded their focus beyond compliance to include climate action, resource efficiency and responsible business practices.
Applications for the second cohort are now open. The programme is expected to bring together professionals from different sectors to discuss sustainability challenges, share experiences and develop practical solutions that can be applied within their organisations.
With ESG regulations evolving and net-zero commitments becoming more common, initiatives such as the Corporate Sustainability Leadership Programme are helping build a workforce that is better prepared for the changing sustainability landscape.
