TrueRE Oriana Power has signed a long-term Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement (GAPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India, marking a key milestone under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and advancing the project from award stage to execution.
Agreement Details and Project Scope
TrueRE Oriana Power will deliver 60,000 tonnes of green ammonia every year for 10 years at a price of ₹52.25 per kg. This makes the total value of the contract about ₹3,135 crore.
The corresponding Green Ammonia Sale Agreement (GASA) has been executed between SECI and Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited, which will act as the end offtaker for the project.
The project is located in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and will be developed by TrueRE Oriana Power with full responsibility for development, approvals, land clearances, and execution.
From Award to Execution Under SIGHT Programme
The Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program gave the company the Letter of Award (LoA) for the project in August 2025. The signing of the agreement means that policy allocation is now moving to implementation on the ground.
The agreement was formalised at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of senior government leaders including Pralhad Joshi, J. P. Nadda, and Shripad Yesso Naik, along with officials from MNRE and industry stakeholders.
Industry Significance and Strategic Impact
“Energy storage and green fuels are critical to India’s clean energy transition, and long-term offtake agreements provide the certainty required for scaling such projects,” said Anirudh Saraswat, founder and CBO, TrueRE Oriana Power. “This agreement marks a key step in translating policy intent into execution. Long-term offtake visibility is critical to scaling green hydrogen and its derivatives, and this framework enables us to move forward with confidence on project delivery.”
The development shows how green ammonia is becoming more important in reducing India’s dependence on imported fossil-based feedstocks, especially in the fertiliser industry. It also helps India reach its long-term energy security goals.
Expanding Clean Energy Capabilities
TrueRE Oriana Power is a fully integrated renewable energy platform that was started in 2013 and is based in Noida. It has about 1 GW of solar capacity that is already in use or being built, over 800 MWh of secured battery energy storage, and a 1 GWh pipeline.
The agreement reflects increasing momentum in India’s green hydrogen ecosystem, as public and private stakeholders collaborate to build a scalable and sustainable clean energy future.
