West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has invited bids for the development of a 50 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project integrated with a 10 MW/40 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Jungle Sundari Karmanagari II in Purulia district, West Bengal.
The selected developer will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the entire facility for 12 years from the date of commissioning.

Scope of Work
The scope includes design and engineering, procurement and supply of equipment, construction and installation of the 50 MW (AC) solar PV plant, and development of the integrated 10 MW/40 MWh BESS. The successful bidder will also undertake testing, commissioning, associated civil and electrical works, grid connectivity and applicable warranty obligations.
The four-hour battery system will be capable of storing and delivering energy over a defined period, helping improve the flexibility of the solar project. Integrating storage with renewable generation can support the management of variations in solar output and make electricity available when generation and demand do not coincide.
Bidding Schedule
According to the tender schedule, the notice was published on 12 October 2026, with document downloads starting the same day. The pre-bid query submission deadline is 28 October 2026 at 12:00 PM, followed by a pre-bid meeting at 2:00 PM.
Bid submission begins on 30 October 2026 at 4:00 PM. The final bid submission deadline is 17 November 2026 at 4:00 PM, while the technical bids are scheduled to open on 19 November 2026 at 1:00 PM.
Supporting Renewable Energy Integration
The project combines utility-scale solar generation with battery storage at a single location in Purulia. Such installations can help distribution utilities manage renewable electricity more flexibly and support the integration of clean energy into the power system.
WBSEDCL has specified a 550-day project completion period and a 12-year O&M obligation, placing responsibility on the selected developer for both project delivery and long-term operation.
