Zelio E-Mobility, a company that makes electric vehicles, has built a new factory in Cuttack, Odisha, which greatly increases its production capacity. The plant has raised the company’s annual electric two-wheeler output from 72,000 units to 1,80,000 units, a major expansion in its manufacturing footprint.
The facility was set up with an investment of under ₹3 crore and is already operational. It is expected to begin contributing to the company’s revenues immediately.
Production Capacity Expansion
With the new Odisha plant in operation, Zelio’s overall production capabilities now include:
• Hisar, Haryana facility: Upgraded from 72,000 to 1,20,000 units per year through process optimisations.
• Cuttack, Odisha facility: Adds 60,000 units per year.
• Total installed capacity: 1,80,000 units annually.
This expansion allows Zelio to meet growing demand in eastern and southern markets more efficiently, with faster deliveries and lower logistics costs.
Focus on Regional Growth and Jobs
The new plant not only helps the company grow its production, but it also makes it stronger in eastern India. Because it is closer to important markets like Odisha and West Bengal, the facility will help cut down on delivery times compared to shipping from plants in the north. It is expected to create jobs for 60 to 100 people in the area in production and operations.
Discussions are also underway with the Odisha government about potential support and incentive programs for the facility.
Company Strategy and Impact
Zelio is rapidly expanding in India’s electric mobility segment, with a network of over 337 dealerships across more than 20 states. The expanded capacity comes at a critical time as electric vehicle adoption grows in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, particularly for affordable two-wheelers.
The manufacturing expansion follows Zelio’s strong performance in the first half of FY26, with consolidated revenue of ₹134.78 crore and net profit of ₹11.87 crore. The company also completed an SME IPO, using part of the proceeds to fund capacity expansion.
Zelio’s managing director said the new Cuttack plant will help the company get closer to customers and improve service support, reinforcing its role in strengthening India’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
