Ola Electric Launches S1 X+ 5.2 kWh with Extended Range and Introductory Pricing

Ola Electric has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of the new S1 X+ 5.2 kWh variant, positioned at the top of the S1 X range. The e-scooter is introduced at an introductory price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India), valid until April 15, 2026, after which prices are expected to increase.

The new version is for buyers in the mid-price range who want longer-range electric mobility. It focuses on better performance and integrating technology in-house.

Key Highlights of Ola S1 X+ 5.2 kWh

  • With a bigger battery pack of 5.2 kWh
  • Claimed IDC range of 320 km
  • It has an 11 kW mid-drive motor.
  • 125 km/h is the fastest speed.
  • Front disc brake with single-channel ABS and Brake-by-Wire technology

In-House Battery Technology Integration

A major highlight of the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh is the use of Ola’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, first unveiled during the company’s community day on August 15, 2025. This move fits with Ola Electric’s larger plan to vertically integrate its battery and vehicle manufacturing capabilities.

The company continues to manufacture its vehicles at its Tamil Nadu facility, while its battery innovation centre in Bengaluru focuses on advancing cell technology.

Product Lineup and Positioning

The newly launched variant joins Ola’s existing lineup, which includes:

  • S1 X+ (4 kWh variant) priced at Rs 1,02,499 with a claimed range of 242 km
  • Gen 3 models such as S1 Pro and S1 Pro+, offering multiple battery configurations

The S1 X range is made for people who want good performance and don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Market Context and Competition

The TVS iQube is the most popular model in the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh’s market.

  • The TVS iQube features a slightly larger 5.3 kWh battery
  • Offers a lower claimed IDC range of 212 km
  • Priced higher at around Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom)

Despite strong product updates, Ola Electric has faced fluctuating market performance. According to VAHAN data:

  • Ola’s market share has declined from a peak of 51% in May 2024
  • The company dropped to sixth position in February 2026
  • Recovered to fourth position by March 2026

Ola Electric is trying to get a stronger foothold in the long-range electric scooter market with the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh. They are also using their own battery technology to improve value and performance.
